Airport Stars triumph

KARACHI, April 29: Airport Stars registered a narrow 15-run victory over Comrade Sports in the Javed Miandad Inter-club League cricket championsh at the Airport Stadium on Monday.

Deciding to bat after winning the toss, Airport Stars raced to 244 for eight wickets in 30 overs with Tahir Rashid (65), Burhan Butt (47), Safdar Hussain (40) and M. Shakir (37) among the runs.

Javed picked up three wickets for 39 runs.

Taking up the challenge of scoring 245 runs for an outright victory, Comrades Sports fell just 16 runs short of target, while reaching 229 for the loss of six wickets in their 30 overs.

Umer Khan led the way to victory scoring 62 runs. Yaseen Shareef (33), Javed Ahmed (32), Shahzad Usman (31) were also among the runs.

Right-arm leg-spinner Naveed Khan three for 33, and off-spinner Mian Sohail three for 34 were instrumental in bowling their team to victory.
