Millers cut 20kg wheat bag price

Published April 30, 2003

LAHORE, April 29: The Pakistan Flour Mills Association on Tuesday reduced the price of 20kg wheat bag to Rs187.

Speaking at a press conference, the PFMA officials claimed that the price of 20kg bag went up to Rs202, and now it had gone down by Rs15 per bag. This had been done to facilitate growers, they added.

The officials also iterated their demand of being given representation on the wheat procurement committees. The government was procuring wheat for the millers, who should have a role in the procurement process, they said.

They said the food department officials were not giving due care to buying fair average quality wheat. “They are purchasing low quality wheat and minting money from farmers,” they said, urging the provincial government to take stock of the situation in time. — Staff Reporter
