RAWALPINDI, April 29: Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate Azfar Sultan Syed on Tuesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for nine police officials for not complying with the directives ofthe court.

The court also directed the district accounts officer to withhold the salaries of these police officials until further orders.

The court issued the arrest warrants for eight police officials of Airport police station. They include sub-inspectors (SIs) Sajid Hussain, Shaukat Ali, Jan Mohammad and Rafaqat Hussian, assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), Safdar Hussain Shah, Azhar Hussian, Mohammad Akram and Mohammad Afzal for not appearing in the court to record their statements as witnesses in a criminal case.

The same court also issued non-bailable warrant of arrest for sub-inspector Israr Ahmed Satti of Kotli Sattian police station, for not appearing before the court despite repeated summons to inform the judge about progress in a criminal case.

Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Imtiaz Ahmed set aside the decision of a lower court and acquitted the ex-public relations officer of District Nazim Tariq Kiani of the charges of fraud.

Amir Ali, who remained the PRO of district Nazim and press secretary at the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry was awarded nine-year rigorous imprisonment by a lower court for committing fraud in the selling of a bungalow. The court had also fined him Rs20,000.

Judicial Magistrate Amjid Saeed Shaikh also imposed a fine of Rs500 on a student Umar Mukhtar for committing unfair means during examination. He was booked by Sadiqabad police.
