KARACHI, July 13 Ghulam Abbas Panjo who ruled national scene of the game as a teenager over three years back, returned to action when he got past an outstation opponent in straight sets to cruise into men's singles next round of Pakistan Open Tennis Championship at the Creek Club on Monday.

Abbas, 18, who was Pakistan No 1 in boys under-15 in 2006, overcame jet leg after arrival from Toronto in the morning to wrap up the match imposing 6-1, 6-2 victory over Muzaffar Mughal of Mirpurkhas.

Qualifier Rayyan Taqdees also advance into the next round when he eased to 6-3, 6-1 victory over Quetta's Mohammad Umair.

Meanwhile, Daniyal Jafrey displayed better fighting spirit by overcoming Hassan Amjad 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 to move into juniors' under-17 singles second round.
