GUJRANWALA, April 27: A union council Nazim and his gunmen were booked on the charge of intimidating a minority councillor for pursuing a case in the district court here on Sunday.

Mandiala Tega Wahando minority councillor Ferzand Jalal came to sessions court along with his relative woman. Nazim Rana Tahir and his gunmen, already present there, threatened them of dire consequences should they pursued the case. Upon this, the minority councillor lodged an FIR against the UC Nazim and his gunmen.

Civil Line police are conducting raids for the arrest of the accused.

APPROVAL: A joint meeting of district and city councils on Sunday gave an approval for removing all obstacles in the way of smooth flow of traffic in and around the city with the cooperation of traffic police.

The meeting was presided over by District Nazim Fiaz Ahmad Chattha while city tehsil council Nazim Babu Javed Ahmad, Traffic SP Farooq Mazher, DSP Mahmoodul Hassan Qureshi and other senior officers participated in it.

The meeting was told that one-way traffic system would be introduced at Daal Bazaar and Kharadan Bazaar while an overhead bridge would be constructed for pedestrians at Sialkoti Gate.

City Nazim Babu Javed assured the participants that an operation clean-up for this purpose would be started soon in the city.

The traffic SP and other senior officers said that solid steps were being adopted for the smooth flow of traffic in the city so as to avoid accidents.

MANHANDLED: A PTCL lineman was manhandled and injured by two persons for rectifying the line of their rival in Baghbanpura here on Sunday.

Lineman Zubair Shah was rectifying the line of subscriber Amjed Shah in Kalarabadi when Heera and Karamat thrashed him.
