KARACHI Pakistan's top shuttler Ahsan Qamar said on Tuesday that if proper opportunities were provided he could perform well on the international badminton circuit.

“Pakistan has got good talent in badminton and with proper exposure and sponsorship they can excel at the international level,” stated Ahsan Qamar, who recently won his second national singles crown in Islamabad while representing PIA.

He said he and several Pakistani men and women players have done well at the international circuit and if more exposure and assistance is extended they can win medals in different events.

Ahsan, said without the backing of Pakistan Badminton Federation and his employer PIA, it was difficult to make any progress.

He said it is disappointing that Pakistan will not be taking part in upcoming Commonwealth and Asian Games because of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) policy.

“Without giving requisite exposure to at least top men and women, Pakistan cannot raise their standard in badminton,” he commented. —APP
