KARACHI, Oct 15 The 11th Pakistan International Seniors tennis championship entered the semi-finals stage on Wednesday evening with seeded players completing the line-up in all categories with one exception.

Third seed Mohammad Iltifat was shocked by Bashir Khan 6-4, 6-4 in the 35-plus singles category the other day to earn a place in the last-four phase.

Others who sailed into the semis were Mohammad Abdul Saeed, Ejaz Sarhadi and Waseem Baran.

Karim Gul Agha, the second seed, registered a crushing 6-0, 6-0 victory over Akbar Hayat Khan to cruise in the 45-plus singles semis.

He is drawn to face winner of the second semi-final, to be played between Tahir Gul and Altaf Hussain, for the title battle.

Sabih Wali, Iltifat Ahmed, Gul Hameed and Zakaria Ali Mohammad eased into the 55-plus singles semi-finals. The latter came at the expense of fourth seed Jamil Khan by virtue of a walkover.

45-plus singles quarter-final Akbar Hayat Khan bt Syed Khalid Ali 6-1, 6-3.

Semi-final Karim Gul Agha bt Akbar Hayat Khan 6-0, 6-0.

55-plus singles quarter-finals Zakaria Ali Mohammad walkover Jamil Khan; Gul Hameed bt Wolf Gang (Germany) 6-2, 6-0; Iltifat Ahmed bt Mohammad Ilyas 6-3, 6-2.

45-plus doubles Shahid Aziz/Maqsood Ismail bt Karim Gul Agha/Tariq Khan 6-4, 6-2; Zahid Hussain/Hanif Habib bt M. Nadeem/Ismail Sharif 6-2, 6-2.

55-plus doubles Gulzar Firoz/Mohammad Ali bt Hari Das/Capt Asad Zaidi 6-3, 6-0.
