PESHAWAR, April 26: The Customs Intelligence officials seized 908kg of hashish from a fake Pakistan army water tanker on main Rajar-Charsadda Road early Saturday morning.

According to an official statement, the Customs Intelligence, Peshawar, on receiving information about the contraband, set up road blockade at Rajar in Charsadda district. At 4am, an apparently army water tanker (No. 824156) reached the blockade point on main Rajar-Charsadda Road.

The customs officials signalled the vehicle to stop but the driver opened fire on them while accelerating the vehicle.

The officials chased the water tanker. The outlaws, after intense firing, escaped in the roadside fields and left the water tanker on the road.

During checking, the customs officials recovered 908kg of fine quality of foreign-made hashish, concealed in the tanker.

The value of the seized contraband is estimated to be millions of rupees in international market.
