HARIPUR, April 26: A man committed suicide after murdering his wife at Marchabad village in Khanpur on Friday.

Mohammad Aksar Khan of the village told the Khanpur police that he was sitting outside the house with Muslim Khan when they heard gunshots from the house of his brother-in-law, Mohammad Hayat.

He said that on reaching the house, he spotted his sister, Falaknaz, 26, and her husband, Mohammad Hayat, lying in a pool of blood. They were taken to a hospital, but both expired, Aksar Khan said.

He told the police that Mohammad Hayat shot his sister with a 30-bore pistol and then committed suicide by turning the pistol on himself. He said that relations between his sister and her husband were strained.

POLICEMAN BOOKED: A case was registered against an additional station house officer for misconduct and negligence on the directives of the district police officer on Friday.

Additional SHO of the city police station, Arshad Mehmood, had registered five criminal cases in 2001. According to the FIR, he left all the cases incomplete and caused inconvenience to the accused and the department.

Despite several reminders, he neither completed the investigation reports, nor submitted charge sheets, which necessitated action against him under police rules, sources said.
