U-18 hockey trials start today

KARACHI, Feb 18 Trials to select the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) U-18 hockey team for the U-18 national junior championship will be held in two phases, one in Karachi and the other in Lahore.

According to Head of NBP Sports Department Iqbal Qasim, the trials to commence at the Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) at 1.00pm on Saturday (Feb 20) are for players from Sindh and Balochistan.

Meanwhile, the date set for the Lahore trails to be held at the National Hockey Stadium there is Feb 25. The Lahore trials are being held for the convenience of the players hailing from Punjab, NWFP and Kashmir.

Only those players that come through their regional associations will be considered. The selection committee comprises Olympian Rana Mujahid Ali (chairman), International Syed Ehtesham Ali Warsi, International Syed Asghar Hussain, International Khawar Javed and Gulfraz Ahmed Khan (SHA president).
