Collectors of ST, CED appointed

Published April 27, 2003

ISLAMABAD, April 26: The chairman of Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has appointed collectors of sales tax and central excise duty to obtain information regarding production data of various commodities for growth projection.

An official source said on Saturday the decision was taken following the demand of the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) to compile the production data for growth projection and analysis of estimated industrial parameters.

The FBS was collecting data from provincial and federal ministry of industries, but the data were not satisfactory to their standard.

The collector was also empowered to authorize a person as statistical agent to obtain information about the growth production.

Under the new set up, the requisite information for monthly production data has to be submitted by the industrial unit to the collectorate. The collectorates would provide information of those commodities which are operative in their jurisdiction.

The data of previous month should reach directorate of research and statistics (DRS) of the CBR by 10th of every month, which after consolidating the same, would be sent to the FBS, added the official.
