Honours shared on opening day

LAHORE, April 25: Honours were equally shared by the defending champion Wapda, Army, Police and Railways winning two bouts each on the opening day of the 25th Golden Jubilee national wrestling championship at Railways stadium here Friday.

Secretary, Pakistan Olympic Association, Muhammad Latif Butt inaugurated the three-day event being participated by all the affiliated units of the Pakistan Wrestling Federation including four provinces, Army, Police, Wapda, University Grants Commission and hosts Railways.

NWFP, Sindh and Punjab each won one bout in the first round.

Ghulam Haider (Army) bt Adnan Anjum (UGC),Abdul Karim (Railways) bt Abdul Hakim Khan (Balochistan), Qaisar Shahzad (Police) bt Umar Gull (NWFP), Muhammad Awais (Railways) bt Naseer Ahmad (UGC), Robin Masih (Wapda) bt Muhammad Farooq (Army), Zahid Khan (Wapda) bt Muhammad Dilshad (UGC), Asghar Ali (Police) bt Barkat Ali Babar (Railways), Ghulam Bakar (Army) bt Muhammad Tariq (Punjab), Atiqullah (NWFP) bt Muhammad Mehtab (Sindh), Ghulam Qadir (Sindh) bt Nadir Muhammad (Balochistan).

The second round bouts will commence tomorrow at 5 pm.—APP
