KARACHI, April 25: Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Khan Marwat, on Friday, paid a surprise visit to the examination centres at the Government D.J. Science College and the Government Women’s College, Burns Road, where the HSC annual examinations 2003 are in progress.

The minister directed the principals and teachers there to take stern action to curb the copy culture in examinations.

He said that use of unfair means in examinations was badly affecting the standard of education, and that would not be allowed to happen.

He also talked to the candidates appearing in the HSC examinations about their problems.

A candidate pointed out a mistake in the question paper and the minister directed that the mistake be rectified. Principal of the Government College for Women, Akhtar Sultana Kazi, informed the minister that there was shortage of English teachers.

The minister assured that the problem would be taken care of by June this year.

The education minister also inaugurated the water supply line of 6-inch diameter in Kashmir Colony

About 60,000 people of Kashmir Colony and Akhtar Colony will benefit from the water supply line completed at the cost of Rs1.6 million.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that time had come to fulfil the promises made with the people of PS-114, and said that development works would be initiated shortly in sectors C, D, E of UC-1, Junejo Town, Kashmir and Akhtar Colony.—PPI
