Dir girls` school destroyed in blast

UPPER DIR, Nov 10 A middle school for girls in Chukiatan area of Upper Dir district was blown up in the small hours of Monday.

Two consecutive blasts in the school building rocked the town and panicked people. Three rooms of the four-room building were razed to ground while the remaining one was damaged. Furniture and record of the school were reduced to rubble.

So far five girls' schools -- two high, two middle and a primary -- have been destroyed in the district during the last six months.

The watchman of the school told police that at around 2am four hooded persons entered the premises and dragged him out of the building. He added that he was tied to a tree in the field and after few minutes the school was blown up.
