Lipton win bridge tourney

KARACHI April 21: Lipton after seven gruelling rounds of Swiss Movement won the Open Teams Championship at Karachi Club on Monday.

The Lipton team comprising of Tariq Rasheed Khan, M.A Ansari Pervaiz Mirza, Shaukat Hussain and the anchor pair of Abdul Khaliq and Nasir Raza Khan, netted winning swings throughout their ordeals.

Candyland comprising of Zia Hamid, Hasan Askari Khalid Mohammed Ismail and Imran Jaka finished runners-up in the tourney.

In the last round Lipton had established one-match lead over their closest rivals Candyland.

Rashid Ghazi, Shahin Iqbal, Tahir Masood, Javed Iqbal, Mohsin Chandna and Amin Hakim represented Multi, finishing third in the championship.

Giants stood fourth and its team members were: Masud Saleem, Maj Akhtar Zaidi, Hasan Jawad, Yousuf Talpur and Masood Mazar.

Allana team comprised of A. Rahman Allana, Jane Alam Fazli Rashid Jaffer, Sultan Siddiqui, Tahseen Gheewala and Sarfraz Khan secured fifth place while Dynamo claimed the sixth spot.—PPI
