RAWALPINDI, April 21: All 27 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Monday observed strike against the selling of the sub-standard CNG kits.

The strike, which was observed on the call of the All Pakistan CNG Association, started at midnight on Sunday and culminated at 3pm on Monday.

All the filing stations had displayed banners inscribed with demands urging the government to close all those CNG workshops which were working illegally.

The owners of various CNG filing stations said it was just a token strike and if the government did not pay heed to their demands, they could observe a longer strike.

However, the strike did not affect the routine of vehicles as all of the filing stations had informed their customers in advance about the schedule of their strike.

Bismillah Khan, vice chairman of the Suzuki union of the Rawalpindi and Islamabad region told this reporter that there were about 4,000 Suzuki vans in the twin cities running on CNG.
