PESHAWAR, April 1 Six candidates are in the run for the prime post of president in the annual elections of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association for which polling would be held on April 11.

Abdul Sattar Khan, Asadullah Khan Chamkani, Fazal Rabi Dard, Mohammad Ismail Khalil, Syed Attique Shah and Ms Tehmina Muhibullah are contesting for the slot of PHCBA president.

Mr Chamkani and Mr Attique Shah are former presidents of the PHCBA, whereas Ms Tehmina is the first female lawyers contesting for the post of president.

According to the Election Commissioner for the polls, Barrister Baachaa, five candidates have been contesting for the post of vice-president. The candidates are Mohammad Yasir Khattak, Naveed Akhter, Shahzada Gul Shehzad, Shaukat Ali and Shahid Qayyum Khattak.

Similarly, four candidates -- Muhammad Essa Khan, Ayaz Khan, Nek Nawaz Khan and Saifur Rehman Khattak -- have filed papers for the slot of secretary general.

For the post of joint secretary three candidates -- Nasir Naeem Umerkhaili, Syed Yar Shah and Imad Anjum Durrani -- have filed papers. The candidates, who filed papers for the post of library secretary include Mohammad Safdar Saleem, Shakil Khan Gillani and Zahanatullah.

Gul Daraz Khan and Sadirullah Khan filed papers for the post of treasurer.

For the post of executive members Qamar Zaman Parkho and Mujahid Khan were elected unopposed from Mardan and Malakand, respectively.

For two posts of executive members from Peshawar seven candidates -- Khwaja Aurangzeb Alamgir, Muhammad Hayat, Muhammad Zulfiqar Khalil, Ms Ayesha Malik, Nijat Khan, Nomanul Haq and Shakirullah Afridi -- have filed nomination papers.

Similarly, for the single post of executive member from Kohat two nomination papers were filed by Masood Iqbal and Hassan Mohammad.
