RAWALPINDI, April 20: A woman attempted suicide after allegedly killing her ex-husband, while two persons were shot dead and another was injured in separate incidents on Sunday, police said.

According to the police, Tasneem Ambreen, a divorcee, allegedly shot dead her ex-husband and afterwards attempted suicide by shooting herself in People’s Colony, RA Bazaar.

Ambreen had a court marriage with Khaliqur Rehman that ended in a divorce. Despite having been separated, the two persons continued meeting each other.

On Saturday night, when Ambreen met her ex-husband at her brother’s residence, she got infuriated and allegedly shot him dead. After the incident, she attempted suicide and sustained bullet injuries, the police said.

The injured woman was shifted to DHQ hospital, where she was said to be in a critical condition.

In the second incident, Asad Mehmood was allegedly shot dead by two persons who intercepted him in RA Bazaar on Sunday.

Tanveer Ahmed, a brother of the deceased, lodged a complaint with the police saying that his brother married Tehmina Nisar, but his father-in-law did not accept the marriage.

On Sunday, two persons — Qaiser Pervez and Mohammad Ilyas — allegedly shot dead Asad Mehmood and escaped from the scene, the police said.

Meanwhile, one person was shot dead while another one was injured in a clash between two groups over a horse race in Chontra.

A REPORTER ADDS: A 13-year-old girl, who had received critical injuries under mysterious circumstances, died at the Rawalpindi General Hospital (RGH) on Sunday, doctors said.

Samina Nawaz, a resident of Dhoke Chiraghdin, was admitted to the RGH on April 13 with various torture marks and was suffering from a brain haemorrhage, the doctors said. She was in a coma, they added.

Meanwhile, family members of the deceased claimed that Samina fell from the roof of her house while playing.

However, the doctors said condition of the patient suggested that it was a case of continuous and severe torture.

The patient had multiple fractures, scars and torture marks on her body. There were dark scars around her neck, while a deep wound was present on the left side of her body, they added.

The doctors said X-ray reports indicated multiple fractures, including a crack on the right shoulder bone. A CT scan was also carried out as her skull was bleeding, they added.

One of her uncles, who brought Samina to the RGH in an unconscious state, claimed that she was possessed by evil spirits that controlled her movements.

The parents of the deceased denied that the girl was tortured, however, there were also rumours that Samina could have received the injuries while being spiritually treated by a Pir.

The police tried to record Samina’s statement, but failed as she did not regain consciousness.
