SIALKOT, April 18: Shopkeepers injured seriously four sanitary workers of Daska Tehsil Municipal Administration on Friday during an anti-encroachment campaign in the Main Bazaar, Daska.
The anti-encroachment staff led by TMO Muhammad Iqbal Butt started demolishing encroachments created by shopkeepers in front of their shops. At this, the shopkeepers fell into a rage.
Within no time, over 125 shopkeepers gathered there and attacked the anti-encroachment staff with bricks, stones and sticks. As a result, four sanitary workers — Rafiq Masih, Tariq Masih, Ishaq Sadiq Masih and Rafi Masih sustained serious injuries.
The enraged shopkeepers also surrounding TMO Iqbal Butt and other officials. A huge police contingent reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Later, talks between the Markazi Anjuman Tajran and Daska TMA also ended in smoke.
As of now, no case has been registered against the shopkeepers.
THWARTED: Pakistani troops on Friday thwarted another major Indian attempt of fencing along 220kms long Sialkot Working Boundary’s Jammu-Akhnoor-Samba sector, causing heavy losses to the enemy.
Sources said three goats were killed in firing by Indian troops in villages of the working boundary’s Chhumb, Joriyan, Bajwat, Chaprar, Jammu, Saamba, Akhnoor and Zafarwal-Shakargarh-Narowal sectors.
The unprovoked firing also disrupted ploughing in the fields besides damaging several empty cattle-sheds.
However, the Pakistani troops retaliated effectively, they added.
