HYDERABAD, April 18: The Sindh minister for Culture, Tourism and Sports, Shabbir Ahmed Qaimi, has said that nations were identified through their culture, and added that Malakhra (wrestling) was an integral part of Sindh’s culture.

He said this while watching Malakhra at the Malakhra Stadium, Bhitshah, on Thursday.

He said the provincial department of culture and tourism was making all out efforts to promote Malakhra.

He said that the participation of a large number of wrestlers in the Malakhra competition from Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab had proved the popularity of this sport.

The minister said if the Malakhra Association trained their wrestlers to compete with other provinces, the government will bear all the expenses.

Later, the minister visited a free medical camp set up by the Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation.

The doctors working at the camp told the minister that 300 patients had been examined and provided free medicines.

He visited a book stall set up by the culture department.

He was the chief guest at a musical programme, which was held at the Bhitshah Auditorium on Thursday night.
