KARACHI, April 18: Some miscreants, allegedly, set the telephone cables of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company (PTCL) on fire in the Clifton exchange area on Thursday night, affecting some 6,342 telephones.

A PTCL spokesman said that Nafees Ahmed Sididiqui, General Manager STR-II, along with others officials concerned reached the spot and the restoration work had been started. The work was expected to be completed by Saturday morning, the spokesman said.

The residents of block-4, Clifton, Phase-V and Phase-V (Ext) of the Defence Housing Authority have been affected by the incident.

Meanwhile, a PTCL official said that 3,800 phones had been restored and rest of the phones would be restored by Saturday morning.—PPI
