ISLAMABAD, April 17: The Senate deputy chairman, Commander Khalil (retired), called on Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali at the Prime Minister’s House on Thursday.

He remained with the prime minister for some time and discussed matters pertaining to forthcoming Senate session. The two also exchanged views on various aspects of parliamentary business in the Upper House and agreed to work for strengthening of democratic institutions in the country.

DELEGATION: A 12-member delegation from Balochistan led by Sardar Fateh Ali Imrani, adviser to the prime minister, held a meeting with Prime Minister Jamali.

The members of the delegation appreciated various steps taken by the government including rebate in electricity charges, provision of fertiliser and agri loans to farmers on concessionary terms.

The prime minister said the government remained committed to development of the agricultural sector. “The farmers deserve a better deal since they toil day and night and enable the country to earn the much needed foreign exchange through agriculture- related exports,” the prime minister said.
