GUJRANWALA, April 17: The district and sessions judge gave an observation that civil courts were not entitled to hear the claim cases of the Waqf Properties Board (WPB) and disposed of the petition here on Thursday.

Judge Riazul Hassan gave this observation when WPB and Idara Talim-o-Tarbiat administration moved against Government Jinnah Memorial High School and pleaded that school building was owned by WPB and it should be handed over to it. The judge allowed to file an appeal before the chairman of Waqf Properties Board.

LOOTED: The highwaymen deprived an industrialist of cash and prize bonds worth Rs0.5 million on broad daylight in Model Town here on Thursday.

Muhammad Shafiq of Satellite Town withdrew Rs50,000 in cash and prize bonds worth Rs450,000 from the State Bank. He was on his way to factory on foot when four armed car riders stopped him near the bungalow of ex-MPA Babu Munir and bundled him into their vehicle. They snatched cash, prize bonds, and a mobile and escaped after throwing him on the GT Road near Gulshan Iqbal Park.

Model Town police have registered a case and are investigating.

Sialkot Sabaz Pir ASI Basharat Ali was found guilty in an inquiry.

TWO KILLED: Two people were killed while half a dozen others injured in two road accidents in and around the city here on Thursday.

A pick-up was on its way to Gujrat when it collided head-on with a tractor near Kohlowala village. As a result, pick-up crew Inayat died on the spot while six others received injuries.

Chiragh Din (70) was run over by a commuter bus on the GT Road. He died on the spot.
