ISLAMABAD President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday appointed the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, Justice Tariq Parvaiz, as judge of the Supreme Court with effect from Oct 20.

Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan will replace Justice Parvaiz as Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court.

The president appointed Justice (retd) Ghulam Rabbani as an ad hoc judge of the Supreme Court for two years after his retirement as judge of the Supreme Court on Oct 19.

The president's spokesman, Farhatullah Babar, said appointments were made by the president on Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's advice and recommendations of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.—APP
