LAHORE, April 16: MMA president Senator Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani has said the MQM leaders were being helped in Britain to use them against Pakistan.

“They will be used (against Pakistan) as the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan and the Iraqi opposition in Baghdad,” the Maulana said on Wednesday.

He was speaking at a meeting of the central and provincial Shoora of his JUP at the residence of Pir Ijaz Hashmi here.

He said the US and Britain nurtured opposition leaders of Muslim states under a conspiracy to achieve their imperialistic objectives.

He said the MQM leaders were also being helped in Britain to use them when US would need to accomplish its aggressive designs against Pakistan.

He deplored that the army had accused the MQM of establishing torture cells (in Karachi) and working to crave Jinnahpur state out of Pakistan.

“Now they are being appointed governors and inducted into the federal cabinet. It is an insult of the mandate given by the masses.”

Answering a question, he said no compromise could be made on the LFO issue which, however, could be solved through negotiations.

But he regretted that the government was adopting a threatening tone on the issue and it seemed that some people wanted to get rid of the assemblies.

Senator Noorani made it clear that the MMA along with other opposition parties would play a democratic role to protect the assemblies.

He directed provincial and district chapters of his JUP to strengthen regional and district organizations of the MMA.

On the occasion, Dr Sarfraz Naeemi and Mufti Muhammad Khan Qadri presented a report of their coordination with other Sunni political parties. They expressed the hoped that all parties of Sunni school of thought would soon assemble on one platform under the leadership of Maulana Noorani.
