PESHAWAR, Dec 6: NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah on Thursday underlined the need for adhering to financial discipline in all matters.
Presiding over a meeting of ministers and officials, the governor said the rational trimming down of non-developmental expenditures would go a long way in stabilizing the financial position of the province.
The meeting debated the overall financial position of the province. The development process launched by the government also came up for discussion. The meeting took certain decisions for the maintenance of financial discipline.
The governor said the misuse of resources should be checked and their fair and judicious distribution ensured.
INAUGURATED: He said the government was keen to bring underdeveloped areas in the province on a par with developed regions with a view to removing disparity.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Kohat University of Science and Technology on Thursday, he said the establishment of Kohat University of Science and Technology was a major step in the direction of social, educational and economic development of the southern parts of the NWFP.
He hoped that the university students would derive maximum benefit out of existing facilities.
The governor announced a Rs2 million grant for the university and assured that additional land would be acquired for the university and all out efforts would be made to fulfil other requirements of the institution.

RECONSTRUCTION: The governor inaugurated the reconstruction of Kohat-Khushalgarh Bridge which would be completed at a cost of Rs8.51 million.
Addressing a big gathering at Gambat near Kohat, the governor referred to the demands presented to him earlier and directed the district Nazim and the concerned authorities to carry out a survey about the supply of drinking water to the area.
He promised upgradation of Bilitang Middle School and High School, Gambat, provided the strength and accommodation of schools were in accordance with the requirements of rules.
