KOHAT, Sept 25 Authorities registered a murder case against another policeman on Friday and suspended three others for their alleged involvement in killing of some people in Hangu recently.

The DPO Hangu had booked policeman Shadman Ali and had suspended four others. However, on Friday arrest orders of another policeman Haider Ali was also issued.

The accused policemen were deployed at the Shahukhel police checkpost when riots started in Hangu on last Sunday. Eyewitnesses told the police that some motorcyclists were going home when the policemen allegedly opened fire on, killing them on the spot.

Investigations revealed that the victims were not carrying any kind of arms and their dead bodies remained on the road in front of the checkpost. The accused policemen were booked in the murder case whereas their three partners, constables Shah Saeed, Ali Ghulam and Arif Hussain were suspended. They were shifted to unknown place for interrogation.

Meanwhile, a man allegedly involved in killing of people and kidnappings for ransom was arrested by the Hangu police. The accused Wali Mohammad was arrested during a raid in Mardo Banda.

In the meantime, educational institutions remained closed on the sixth day of curfew in Hangu city. The locals were allowed to buy food items and offer Friday prayers. The administration relaxed curfew from 8am to 4pm.

The talks between the elders of the rival factions failed. Officials said that the situation was under-control and security forces were patrolling the bazaar but curfew could not be lifted.

They said that the murder of district nazim Khan Afzal in a bomb blast was major reason behind the curfew as “people are still angry and there is a possibility clash”.

People ran towards shelters in Hangu after rumours spread about another suicide blast in Katcha Pukka area of Kohat during relaxation of curfew, locals said.

Later, the police made announcement through loudspeakers that it was just a rumour.
