Potato exporters

KARACHI, April 15: Potato exporters may get a subsidy of 75 paisa per kg to compete with Indian potato, which has cut price in the international market.

President of Fruits and Vegetables Processor and Exporters Association Abdul Mateen Siddiqui said here on Tuesday that India was selling its potatoes at $95 to $100 per ton while Pakistan’s export price was about $125 per ton.

“We cannot compete with Indian which were selling their potatoes at a very low price. The price of potatoes in our market was very high, making Pakistani exporters uncompetitive in the international market,” he said.—APP
