QUETTA, Dec 11 A division bench of the Balochistan High Court has issued notices to the provincial chief secretary and secretaries of the services & general administration department and the Balochistan Public Service Commission, asking why appointments in government departments should not be processed through the commission.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Qazi Faez Issa and Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar said there were differences between the Public Service Act and the rules governing appointments.

The bench was hearing a petition challenging irregularities committed in appointments made to the Board of Revenue. Senior lawyers Basharatullah, Aslam Chishti and Mazhar assisted the court.

The court rejected submission of petitioners Mashuk Ali and Murad Bugti to withdraw their petitions.

Kamran Murtaza represented affected candidates, Mohsin Javed appeared on behalf of petitioners and Hadi Shakeel Ahmed appeared on behalf of the selection committee of the Board of Revenue.

The hearing was adjourned till Dec 21.
