LAHORE, Sept 19 Supporters of Pervez Musharraf are planning to telecast live proceedings in three major cities of his first press conference in London scheduled for Oct 1 in which the former president will announce the formation of a political party.

Besides Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi are the other two cities where large display screens at various intersections will be used to televise his maiden “political” press conference in which he will respond to all media queries like Nawab Akbar Bugti's murder, Lal Masjid raid and imprisonment of superior courts judges, says Fawad Chaudhry, in-charge of Punjab affairs of the party Musharraf is going to launch.

He was talking to the media after chairing a meeting of the committee formed to make arrangements for the telecast plan.

Mr Fawad himself will be in London on Oct 1 as he has nominated former People's Party leader Hafiz Ghulam Mohayyudin to oversee the event management in Lahore.

The former army ruler is also planning to hold a series of public meetings in various UK cities to check his popularity among the Pakistanis abroad as his friends have assured him of their help in this regard, a source says.

Several political figures belonging to PML-Q and its splinter Like-Minded group are expected to take part in public meetings, the source adds.

In a bid to rebuild his much-damaged image, Musharraf through a recent telethon launched a fund-raising campaign for Pakistan's flood victims.
