KARACHI, April 14: Knowledge in information technology would be made mandatory for all future government employees, while email would be used for inter-office communication, an official of the Sindh IT Department said.

The government has geared up efforts to switch-over to e-government and for this purpose computer and automation training for all management and secretarial staff would be taken up on priority basis, he said.

Under the first phase of the project, 15,000 employees from grade-5 to grade-20 will be imparted IT training in different applications like windows, MS office, local area network etc. Trainings courses will be arranged at cities and towns of each district in the province.

As many as 3,000 provincial government employees had already been imparted computer training last year, while advanced IT training for 600 secretariat employees had started, he added. LAN system has already been established at Tughlaq House and the Governor’s Secretariat .—PPI
