KARACHI, April 14: A committee has been formed for the resolution of the problems being faced by the dwellers of the villages located within the jurisdiction of Port Qasim.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting presided over by Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind, says a statement issued on Monday.
It said the committee would be headed by the member, Land Utilization, Hashim Leghari, and will include District Coordination Officer Karachi Mir Hussain Ali, and director-general (administration) of Port Qasim Authority.
The committee has started functioning with immediate effect and would submit its report to the chief secretary in 15 days.
It was also decided that there should be a headway in connection with the inclusion of elected representative on the board of directors of the Port Qasim Authority.
TEACHERS PROMOTION: Chief Secretary K. B. Rind on Monday directed the officials of provincial Education Department to update the lists of lecturers for promotion from grade 17 to 18, as per recommendations put forward by departmental promotion committee, and submit the same to the competent authority for approval.
He issued these directives during a meeting with a delegation of Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) at his office.
On a demand for creating separate post of EDO (Colleges) in each district like one in Karachi, the CS said that meeting this demand was not possible at this stage due to financial and other constraints.
However, he added, the proposal could be considered for Hyderabad and Sukkur.
With regard to the shortage of teachers in colleges, it was decided at the meeting that education secretary would meet the chairman of Sindh Public Service Commission for arranging tests/interviews for the posts of lecturers advertised last year. It was also agreed that the cases of promotions and move-over would be disposed of expeditiously.—APP/PPI
