Fire destroys Murree school

Published November 4, 2009

MURREE, Nov 3 Saint Danny's school on Tuesday caught fire reportedly as a result of gas leak destroying three blocks of the school here at Kashmir Point.

The Head Mistress of the school said all the students were safely evacuated to another building and no causality was reported.

The Rescue 1122 and fire brigade reached the spot late and extinguished the fire after about three hours' hectic efforts.

Fire tenders also arrived from Rawalpindi but to no avail as major portion of the building made of wood had already been gutted.

St. Danny's school is the legacy of the British period and was run by British missionaries where quality education was provided to the locals.

The building of the school was a reflection of the British architecture.
