LRC not announcing riders weight

Published April 14, 2003

LAHORE, April 13: On one hand steps are being regularly taken to improve the standard of racing, and yet on the other, the Lahore Race Club (LRC)

clerk of scales seems to have abandoned the practice of announcing the exact carrying weight of the riders in each race. Often riders carry more or less weight than that of handicapped figure and the LRC used to make prompt announcement in this respect.

This practice had been stopped for the last couple of days and no announcement is being made about the correct weight riders were carrying on their mounts in each race, the reason best known to the clerk of scales.

The LRC management too have not taken any notice of this lapse.—A.G.
