ISLAMABAD, April 13: Chief of Staff Vice Admiral Mohammad Haroon handed over a cheque for Rs200,000 to the famous singer, Shahzad Roy, for his charitable organization “Zindagi Trust” at Naval Headquarters on Sunday.

According to a press release, the donation was announced by the naval chief during a performance by the singer on the occasion of Annual Fleet Variety programme held at Pakistan Navy Dockyard.

V Adm Haroon lauded the efforts of Shahzad Roy for the cause of encouraging poor children to attend schools, and helping in reducing the menace of beggary in the country.

“Its indeed a great cause replacing begging bowls with pens for which Mr Roy and his associates deserve all the appreciation,” he said.

It is a good omen that famous figures of the music industry, who have great influence on the younger generation, are actively participating in various humanitarian and welfare related activities, he added.
