HCCI polls: 9 withdraw nomination papers

HYDERABAD, Sept 21 Six candidates from corporate class and three from associate class withdrew their nomination papers for the post of member of the managing committee of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) on Tuesday, paving way for their opponents to be elected unopposed.

There will be no polling (for the posts of committee members) on September 23.

Forms for the posts of president and vice-president would be issued from September 25 and elections for the posts would be held on 28.

According to a chamber's press release, the returning officer Dr Mohammad Ali Chang and three-member election committee declared that Seth Goharullah, Dr Mohammad Farid Qasim, Maqsood Ahmed Khan, Nawab Ahmed Khanzada, Dayo Mal and Shahid Aziz Ghauri from corporate class and Haji Mohammad Yaqoob, Ziauddin, Turab Ali, Hafiz Naseeruddin, Abdul Qayyum and Abdul Salam Arain from associate class had been elected unopposed.

Seventeen candidates from corporate class and 23 from associate class had filed nomination papers. on Tuesday Masood Pervez, Mohammad Ashraf Memon, Saman Mal, Mohammad Abrar Butt, Amir Shahab, Ramizuddin Ahmed from corporate class and Abdul Rehman Rajput, Murtaza Ali Ezzi, Haji Mohammad Memon from associate class withdrew their nomination papers.

Mohammad Iqbal, Jalaluddin and Noorul Islam Raza from associate class had already withdrawn their nominations.
