Adnan stuns top seed Waqar

LAHORE, April 12: In a major upset, Adnan Khan a qualifier from Punjab, upset top seed Waqar Ahmed (PAF) to enter the quarterfinals of the Faysal Bank national junior boys and girls squash championship Under-15 (boys) event on first day at the Punjab Squash Complex on Saturday.

Adnan took only 20 minutes to stun a strong rival Waqar in three sets 9-4, 9-4, 9-6.

In other categories, all top seeds made the last eight without any upsets.

In Under-19, ranked no 1, Safeer Khan (PAF) toppled Adnan Gul (NWFP) without dropping a single point in a match that lasted 12 minutes only

Safeer won with the score of 9-0, 9-0, 9-0.

In Under-17 event, top seed Farhan Mehboob (PAF) proved too good against teammate Majeed Hussain. Farhan spent 15 minutes to dispose off the challenge from Majeed.

In Under-13, Waqar Mehboob faced little difficulty before beating Waqar Rauf (Punjab) in 28 minutes encounter 9-0, 9-2,9-1.

In a well competed encounter of this age category, Aaqib Ahmed of Sindh went to full distance to beat Kashif Javed of Punjab 9-4, 4-9, 9-4, 4-9, 9-4. The result came out after a 45 minutes long battle.
