SUKKUR, April 12: The civil judge, Kashmor, Ilam Din Janwri, granted bail to nine policemen, including Kashmor taluka police officer and SHO, who had been arrested for negligence in duty and display of cowardice during the Kashmor carnage of March 31 in which 14 persons were killed, 18 injured and eight kidnapped.

The court ordered to release the policemen as the prosecution failed to establish any proof against them.

However, the court rejected the bail applications of two police constables, Mohammad Yakoob and Altaf Hussain, in the same case.

The Guddu police on Friday registered the cases against 11 policemen, including the TPO and the SHO of Kashmor, under sections 29, 155 B/D and 176-D of the Police Order-2002 on the charges of gross negligence in duty and carelessness.

Those booked are TPO Ghulam Shabbir Khoso, SHO Ali Bux Dakhan, ASI Saifuddin Burrero, and constables Naik Mohammad Golo, Abdul Razzak, Ghazi Khan, Bhagio Langah, Shafi Mohammad Mazari, Ghulam Ali, Mohammad Yakoob and Altaf Hussain.

Earlier, the Guddu police arrested 19 policemen on the same charges on the recommendation of a police team conducting an investigation into the Kashmor carnage.

Later, the police released eight policemen and registered the cases against 11 policemen.
