RAWALPINDI, March 11 An anti-terrorism court indicted a man on Thursday on a charge of being involved in attempts on the life of former president Pervez Musharraf seven years ago.

ATC-I Judge Malik Muhammad Akram Awan indicted Rana Faqir Hussain for his involvement in the Dec 25, 2003 suicide attacks and directed the prosecution to produce on March 31 its witnesses before the court.

Rana Faqir, a resident of Faisalabad, had pleaded not guilty. He said he was ready to face the trial as all charges against him were untrue and fabricated.

Civil Lines police said Rana Faqir was the driver of the third vehicle laden with explosives but the vehicle could not start for unexplained reasons.

Rana Faqir was arrested by the Rawalpindi police in August 2005.

Earlier, the court had exonerated Shaziz Mubashir, daughter-in-law of Rana Faqir, in the same case because she had already been tried and acquitted by a military court.
