Man pardons Jatois for killing son

DADU, March 19 Father of Shahjehan Qureshi, a teenage activist of Pakistan People's Party who was allegedly killed by the guards of District Nazim Karim Ali Jatoi during campaign for Feb 18 elections, pardoned his son's killers on Thursday.

Lala Abdul Sattar Qureshi forgave his son's murder without any conditions when a delegation led by former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali and comprising former federal miniter Liaquat Ali Jatoi, his brothers Sadaqat Ali Jatoi, Ihsan Ali Jatoi and Karim Ali Jatoi and others arrived at his residence and begged forgiveness.

Mr Jamali said after the meeting that they went to seek pardon and Lala Abdul Sattar forgave his son's murder.

Mr Qureshi had lodged a case against District Nazim Karim Ali Jatoi, local PML-Q leaders, Saeed Ahmed Soomro, Syed Fida Hussain Shah and 10 others after his son's murder.

Mr Jamali, a close friend of Mr Qureshi, brought the two sides to negotiations and persuaded them to settle the dispute.

SUICIDE A lecturer of the Pharmacy Department of the University of Sindh committed suicide by taking pesticide in Sehwan town on Thursday over some domestic problems.

The lecturer, Iftikhar Hussain Shaikh, arrived at Lal Bagh in Sehwan and committed suicide. Police later handed over the body to relatives.
