More Nadra offices for Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA, Aug 30 The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) is setting up four more offices in Gujranwala district to facilitate people in getting computerised national identity cards, Nadra Chairman Ali Arshad Hakeem said here on Sunday.

Speaking to the representatives of Nadra employees union, Hakeem said the new offices would be set up in Aroop Town, Alipur Chattha, Qila Dedar Singh and Gakkhar Town. He said all Nadra contract employees would be regularised after Eidul Fitr.

Union leaders Shahid Yousaf, Tayyab Tahir and Ali Raza thanked the Nadra chief for his efforts for the employees.

ENCROACHMENTS The administration has told about 100 traders of Kashmir Road to remove their encroachments by Monday or be ready to get these razed.

A senior official of the municipal administration said the road from Farid Town to Behari Colony would be widened at the cost of Rs3.5 million.

He said the administration had already issued notices to traders for removal of encroachments.

SEALED Two flourmills have been sealed in Wazirabad for not supplying subsidised flour to Ramazan bazaars.

Also, about one dozen people, including a food inspector and a hotel manager, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in flour embezzlement.

District Food Controller Mian Zahoor Ahmad took notice of non-supply of flour to Ramazan bazaars, sealed the mills and withheld their wheat quota.

Separately, Commissioner Hasham Tareen visited various Ramazan bazaars in and around the city and got arrested Food Inspector Wahid and hotel manager Amjad in addition to a dozen other people for buying subsidised flour.
