ISLAMABAD, April 11: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Friday regularized its 56 tubewell operators working on daily wages basis for several years.

The decision to this effect was made at the board meeting presided over by the authority’s chairman Mir Laiq Shah here.

The meeting will continue for the second day on Saturday, as only four out of 28 points of the agenda could be discussed on Friday.

The meeting was informed that over 200 tubewell operators were working on daily wages basis and 56 regular posts were lying vacant against their strength. The meeting decided that the other tubewell operators would be regularised subject to the vacation of regular posts in this cadre.

The board removed an anomaly in its services regulation and merged posts of senior radiographer and radiographer. The meeting was informed that the criterion of appointment of senior radiographer (BS-9) and radiographer (BS-6) was same, therefore, the board decided to bring both the posts in a same cadre.

The board approved a proposal for upgradation and redesignation of two posts of additional financial advisors as deputy directors (BS-18).

On Saturday, the directorate of estate management-II will place a proposal before the board for waiving of extension surcharge for plot 223 at Industrial Triangle Kahuta Road. A proposal for appointment of a consultant for designing, preparation of estimates/tenders documents and construction of a sewage treatment plant for Model Village Humak will also be placed before the board.

Director Land and Rehabilitation Directorate will place two proposals regarding vacation of acquired land of Bheka Syedan village and Sector E-12. The issue of extension of lease period of plots in Markez/class-III shopping centres would also be discussed.

The fate of Bheka Syedan village, who have been waiting for due compensation of their land acquired by the CDA, would also be decided in the meeting.

Meanwhile, the CDA official told Dawn that three awards of compensation were announced for the villagers of Bheka Syedan in 1980, 1982 and 1985 under which 411 villagers were declared genuine. Of them, 222 have received plots and 189 are still waiting for the compensation.

Besides 189 villagers, who were included in all the three awards, some 158 other villagers are also demanding compensation claiming that their plots were allotted to some other people. The CDA was also reviewing these 158 cases.
