SHIKARPUR, April 10: The activists of the Jamiat Tuleba-i-Islam (JTI) held a protest demonstration against the US-led war on Iraq.

JTI leaders including Abdul Qadir, Raza Mohammad, and Jan Mohammad condemned the killing of innocent Iraqis. They termed it blatant violation of human rights.

They demanded of the government to approach the UN for halting the war immediately.

The protesters burnt an effigy of US President George W. Bush.

TEACHERS: The Secondary School Teachers observed black day on Thursday to protest against the executive district officer (EDO), Education, Shikarpur, for the inordinate delay regarding the solution of their problems.

The teachers wore black arm-bands and hoisted black flags on school buildings.

They boycotted classes and held a protest demonstration against the EDO outside the press club.

Speaking on the occasion, the district president, Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA), Syed Rashid Hussain Shah; the Taluka president, Shikarpur, Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah; and other leaders accused the EDO, Education, Rafiq Ahmed Siddiqui, of failure in solving the teachers’ problems and committing irregularities.

They demanded the transfer of the EDO and the acceptance of their demands including promotions, sanction of selection grade, move over of teachers, an end to corruption, and withdrawal of transfer orders based on political grounds.

The GSTA leaders announced to continue their protest till the acceptance of their demands.`
