13 children, woman die of suffocation

MULTAN, Dec 4: Thirteen children and a woman died of suffocation after falling into an abandoned well in a village near Dunyapur, some 50 kilometres form here, on Tuesday evening.

Reports reaching here said the victims were sitting on the upper structure of the well in Chak 5-WB, seeing a film being screened by a cigarette advertizing agency.

Suddenly, the soft portion of the well caved in, and 24 children and two women fell into it.

Due to suffocation, 13 children and a woman died and two other minors sustained injuries.

The dead were identified as Sughra, 50; Bushra, 10; Sohail, 12; Tanveer, 13; Sajid, 13; Osman, 6; Sanaullah, 13; Abdullah, 4; Zohaib, 9; Nimra, 6; Anam, 12; Zeeshan, 8; and two infants, Sheraz and Faseeh Ali.
