LAHORE Navy brushed aside PMC Athletico Club Faisalabad 1-0 at the Naval Complex, Islamabad, while Pakistan Air Force (PAF) lost their first-half lead to suffer a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Pak Elektron Limited (PEL) at the PAF Complex, Peshawar, as two more Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches were decided on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the clash between Army and Wapda at the Army Sports Complex, Rawalpindi, had to be postponed due to security concerns after the attack on the army headquarters.
Navy gained another three points when their striker Asif Mahmood surprisingly hit his first goal of the event in the 19th minute.
Navy has 27 points in 12 matches while the Faisalabad-based outfit completed the same number of matches while securing 14 points.
In the other match, PAF failed to capitalize on an early goal advantage on NWFP soil as they underwent a 1-2 defeat at the hands of PEL. Midfielder Saleh Khan utilised Mohammad Zeeshan's cross to give the airmen a 19th-minute lead but Dir-born Safiullah Khan leveled the issue in the 42nd minute.
It was the first goal for Safi making the score at interval 1-1.
Spearhead Asmatullah, who joined PEL from Bannu Red, struck his sixth goal of the event off Mohammad Rashid's pass to give PEL a 2-1 lead in the 68th minute.
PEL's defense did well to block all PAF attacks in the remaining 22 minutes to earn the memorable win. It was the 12th match for both teams with the airmen getting 14 points as compared to PEL's 15.
