SUKKUR, April 7: Five persons, including two women, were injured on Sunday after Sundrani tribesmen attacked the house of Ghulam Mohammed Waso, Munshi of the Sindh chief minister in the Janner Waso village, Ghotki district.

The attackers are reported to have set the house on fire after the attack.

Those, injured in the incident, included Amanullah, Faiz Mohammed and Mir Mohammed (sons of Ghulam Mohammed Waso), as well as two women, namely Ms Ameeran and Ms Bachal.

An FIR was registered in the Andal Sundrani police station against five persons of the Sundrani tribe, including Sardar Sunder Sundrani and Mehboob Sundrani.

The police attributed the attack on a dispute between the Sundranis and Mr Waso over 25 acres of land.

Later, the police raided the house of the PPP’s district information secretary, Ghulam Sarwer Sundrani, and arrested him along with 11 other persons on charges of attacking the house of Mr Waso.

Three vehicles, including a double-cabin belonging to the Sundrani tribesmen, were also impounded in the raid.

Others, who were arrested, included Shamsuddin, Ghulam Hussain, Jam Ahmed, Miral, Rahzan, Nisar and Ibrahim.

There is resentment among PPP workers over the arrest of the party’s district information secretary.

They accused the police of arresting the PPP leader and other at the behest of the Sindh chief minister.

According to them, the disputed land belonged to the Sundranis but the Wasos had illegally occupied it in connivance with the police and the district administration.
