PESHAWAR, April 7: The NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq has asked government departments to further curtail their non-development expenditures so that savings made from such efforts could be diverted towards development activities.

Mr Haq, who also holds the finance portfolio, was presiding over the meeting held here on Monday to discuss budget estimates of agriculture department for the next fiscal year.

Provincial minister for agriculture Qari Mahmood, secretary finance and heads of various sections of agriculture department attended the meeting.

Mr Haq asked the agricultural extension wing of the agriculture department to publish articles in newspapers to inform farmers about the usefulness of modern farming techniques.

He directed to include information on farming for women listeners in the department’s radio programmes.
