CHITRAL, April 6: The All Education Employees Federation Chitral president, Shah Jahan Khan, has given one week to the government to revise the transfer orders of school teachers and threatened of an stern action in case of failure.

Speaking at an emergency meeting of the federation here on Saturday, he alleged that the EDO education and his coterie had blatantly violated merit in the recent reshuffling of school teachers.

He went to the extent of saying that the EDO consulted his near and dear ones for transferring them to the stations of their choice.

In the meanwhile, Denin Union Council Nazim Hakim Mujeebullah has said transfers in the education department had belied tall claims of the MMA government who he said claimed to be the flag-bearer of merit and justice.

In a press statement issued here on Saturday, he said people were expecting fair play from the new government, but recent transfers made on personal choices had utterly disappointed them, which would eventually ruin the academic progress of schools.

He demanded of the government to cancel the transfer orders and constitute a judicial body to investigate anomalies.

When Dawn contacted EDO Education Samad Gul, he was not present in his office.

An official in his office, however, rejected the allegations and said strict policy of merit was maintained in the transfers. But if there was any just grievance, it would be redressed, he held out an assurance.

The transfers has created panic among teachers who allege anomaly and nepotism, instead of transparency and merit.
