SHIKARPUR, April 4: Important water projects, including Kalabagh dam and the greater Thal canal, should be implemented after achieving consensus, MNA Dr Mohammad Ibrahim Jatoi said on Friday.

Dr Jatoi said that there was a need to improve the local government system to bring it at par with the aspirations of the people.

He was speaking at a press conference at his banana farm.

He also stressed the need for recruiting teachers and police personnel on merit with any political interference.

He said that it was vital to improve the education system as well as maintaining law and order situation.

The government, he said, was determined to improve the socio- economic conditions in the country.
