HYDERABAD, Feb 4 District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil on Wednesday urged the utilities organisations to provide electricity, gas and telephone to the newly-constructed vegetable market to help expedite work on shifting the market from the densely populated area to its new site.

He said at a meeting of the market committee at his secretariat that the officials of Hesco, PTCL, SSGC and other departments concerned had granted the utilities to shopkeepers at the newly-constructed fruit markets throughout the country and that they should do the same in Hyderabad.

He directed officials of the district government to remove bottlenecks impeding work on new vegetable market.

The district government was spending billions of rupees on Ghangra Mori bypass flyover and Pinyari, Akram Wah and Phulelli bridges and these development works would eventually facilitate growers to transport vegetables and fruits to the city without any difficulty, he said.

The district government would fully cooperate with all the agencies for providing basic facilities to the new vegetable market, Mr Jamil said.

The taluka nazims of Hyderabad and Latifabad, DCO, HDA director-general, EDO of agriculture, representatives of utilities organisations, market committee and traders attended the meeting.

HEALTH MNA Salahuddin has said that the government is giving priority to improving health sector infrastructure and providing basic health facilities to the people of urban and rural areas without discrimination.

He said during a visit to Paretabad Hospital on Wednesday that different mega health projects were being launched in the city and efforts were being made to enhance capacity and upgrade government hospitals.

He inspected various sections of the hospital and expressed dissatisfaction over cleanliness and non-supply of medicines to patients from the government store and directed the hospital management to provide best treatment to patients.

DCO Aftab Ahmed Khatri warned doctors and paramedics to perform their duties with a sense of commitment or be ready to face disciplinary action.

He assured the hospital management that the staff required for the hospital would be recruited shortly and directed it to plant trees in the open space to provide healthy environment to patients and their attendants.

The district government had evolved a strategy for monitoring all its health units and ensure efficient utilisation of funds and manpower in health sector, he said.

Later, the MNA and DCO Aftab Ahmed Khatri visited the under-construction administration block and OPD of the hospital being constructed at a cost of Rs16 million.

They directed the officers concerned to complete work within stipulated period.
